Mona Pasifika vs Chiefs Super Rugby Pacific match Postponed

Moana Pasifika's first match Super Rugby Pacific has been delayed again as New Zealand Rugby (NZR) and SANZAAR confirmed their second-round against the Chief's postponement.

The first Moana Pasifika players and staff come out from their Queenstown hotel on Sunday, February 20, after the group was quarantined for nearly ten days following a positive Covid-19 case.

The Championship Medical Advisory Group met on Monday, February 21, to discuss the Pacific Islander return schedule.
The team's recommendation is for games to be rescheduled as teams, especially those recovering from Covid-19, do not have enough time to fully prepare for Sunday's first Super Rugby Pacific game.

Moana Pasifika's historic entry into Super Rugby's Pacific is further delayed after a first-round against the Blues, as some players tested positive for Covid-19.

The New Zealand Rugby director Cameron Good said the postponement was the right decision.

"Everybody wishes to see Moana Pacifica on the ground, and we've explored all the options to make it possible this weekend, including moving the Chiefs back to Sunday for two days," he told the official website Super Rugby Pacific.

However, it was an easy decision in the end, as we had no intention of compromising on the safety and well-being of our players. We are doing our best to reschedule each of the two postponed matches involving Moana Pasifika.
