Hurricanes are a New Zealand professional rugby union team located in Wellington, previously known as the Wellington Hurricanes, participating in Super Rugby competition every season. Hurricanes team representing Hawke’s Bay, East Coast, Wanganui, Poverty Bay, Taranaki, Horowhenua-Kapiti, Manawatu, Wairarapa-Bush, and Wellington unions. Currently, they play at Sky Stadium (Previously called as Westpac Stadium).

Before 2006 (Super12), their top results were 3rd place in 1997 and 2003.  In 2006, they lost to Conrad Smith due to a leg injury in the Super 14 in New Plymouth on February 18, 2006.

The team recovered from this severe injury and won their first super rugby semi-final match.

The Hurricanes led the Super Rugby for most of the season, hosting a semi-final and a final in 2015. However, they lose the finals against Highlanders.

The former captain of the Hurricanes was Tana Umaga, who was also the captain of the New Zealand national team All Blacks.
