The Blues Team was initially called the Auckland Blues Team. It is a New Zealand Rugby union team based in Auckland, New Zealand, representing the Northland, Northport, and Auckland Unions. In 1996 Blues was established by the NZRU. It is one of the most successful teams in Super Rugby history. They participated in the Super Rugby Tournament, and in the days of the Super 12, they won three victories in the years 1996, 1997, and 2003. Moreover, in 1998 the team was a finalist, and in 2007 and 2011 were semifinalists.
