New Zealand Teams Jerseys - Super Rugby Pacific 2022

New Zealand have unveiled its five-team jerseys for the first Super Rugby Pacific in 2022. Every New Zealand team has announced new home and away jerseys for the 2022 and 2023 seasons, and each jersey has meaning and relevance to its respective team.

Blues Jersey

The Blues will wear a dark blue home jersey because the Auckland-based team "pays homage to the great journey that is an important part of New Zealand's history, and the waters around the area make it possible."

According to a statement issued by the Super Rugby Trans-Tasman champions, they created an object in the middle of their home jersey that "represents a four-way meeting place- as it happens - that climbs to the Cape Ring in the far north, At Tai Tokerau (North) "where the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea flow and meet.

At the same time, the Blues’ away jerseys symbolize their history of winning the championship from the late 1990s and early 2000s, and the diamonds on their shoulders are a tribute to their iconic 1997 Super 12 jersey.

Chiefs Jersey

Further south in Hamilton, the Chiefs have kept a distinct Maori design for the new season with their home jersey called "Nga hihi o te ra - The Rays of the Sun".

A statement from the team stated that this jersey integrates the theme of the sun and sun rays to highlight the team's red and yellow on the black jersey.

The korus design in the upper and lower half of the jersey depicts the intertwined connections between the provincial unions, players, supporters, members, sponsors, clubs, and families that make up the Chiefs region.

The design of the Chiefs jacket is similar, but with different color schemes, the base color of the jacket is white and the pattern of the elbow is accentuated with the color of the paua shell.

According to the team, this away jersey named He Piringa Paua represents "loyalty and commitment."

Hurricanes Jersey

In the capital, the Hurricanes unveiled a classic yellow home jersey. The Wellington-based team stated that this is the representative of the original Hurricanes jersey in the 1996 Super 12 season.

Avan Lee, CEO of Hurricanes, said in a statement: "Our jersey pattern is inspired by our strong wind. This is the source of our strength, reflecting the traditional narrative of our region and our unstoppable momentum."

"The blue stripe is the return of the Hurricanes' first Super Rugby jersey. The blue stripe on the original jersey is iconic, so we are very happy to see it return in a new modern style."

The team's away kit has the same design but is black. Hurricanes also introduced a new blue-green training t-shirt with Pasifika-inspired designs on the front.

Crusaders Jersey

At the same time, Crusaders have adopted a new way of dressing for them, showing off the string design on the traditional black and red top.

According to the Christchurch-based franchise, the six mountain peaks seen on the jersey are representative of the six provincial associations within the crusader region.

The Super Rugby Aotearoa defending champions wear the same design on their away shirt, which is mainly white and black trim.

Highlanders Jersey

Southern Highlanders welcomed the return of their maroon away strip for the first time in more than a decade after replacing it with a vivid green strip in 2011.

The away jersey symbolizes the team's two smallest provincial unions-Southland and North Otago-and has a "modern checkered pattern", which also appears on the home and training jerseys.

The Dunedin-based team has kept a traditional blue-gold color scheme on the home jersey, while both jerseys will adopt the new main sponsor in the form of SBS Bank and relocate the Speight logo on the collar of the shirt.

Speight is still the main sponsor of the Highlanders training jersey, which has a much stronger color contrast of navy blue and bright green.
